X-space was born from the acknowledgment that resource scarcity and the need for shelter are not mutually exclusive; on the contrary, often two sides of the same coin in today’s world. This understanding led naturally to an exploration of light, airy design, aiming to use minimal materials while creating maximum spatial impact.

Drawing inspiration from tensegrity, structures whose balance of tension and compression mirrors forms found in nature and at the molecular level, X-space engages with both the geometry of the site’s basalt stones and the bodies, human and non-human, that move through it.

Composed of repeated geometric modules arranged across three spatial axes, X-space was built using only a small amount of material, yet expands to occupy a volume more than ten times larger. Rather than a purely performative piece, it serves as a practical exploration of alternative ways to conceive and construct large, yet handmade, structures.
